Covid has thrown up many challenges .. but we finally hope to move in late March 2021.
So my key jobs are to make the library a temporary lounge, finish home office and hardwire internet cable into key rooms, wax oil study floor against new puppy surprises .
Bedroom 2 needs new computer worktop sorting for working from home for son #2 with hardwired internet cable from new router in main office . Dust everywhere needs a good clean and pictures adding to walls currently hiding fireplace.
Sword and shield from Braveheart movie added to Library fireplace and hardback book collection being added slowly. Right hand side home made scaffold bookcase has temporary door for the kitchen storage until the green oak extension is built
House plants being moved over to acclimatise to new conditions as house very cool with thick walls against the summer heat and retains heat well with new insulation in loft for colder conditions
Kitchen starting to look like a jungle... and part-time work shop
Old window cut up for the logburner .......
New bay window fitted and internal structure built for home office work surface made from two old broken tables . Wooden frame for New Orleans shutters being built to also box off the roof structure and brick walls after adding masses of 400mm insulation. Cutting floorboards to exact angles to form ceiling of bay window roof structure .
Future job below for April is to rebuild original bay window Victorian walls at other end of commercial area ready to box off and remove old shop window above cellar coal shuttle access .
Study floor sanded 3 times with different grades 40 , 80 and 120
and wax oiled with an Amber grade and two coats of clear matt after repairing or replacing rotten boards from a product of not having sufficient ventilation in the cellar below creating too much humidity that I have resolved with air bricks and airflow through and out of above chimney .
Bathroom planning in progress for Italian walkin shower on bed of cement laid on 18 mm marine plywood ajacent to new bath . Detailed calculations for evacuation and water feeds to avoid slate bed of fireplace, gas supply pipes to kitchen , joists and electrical feeds while maintaining sufficient gradients . Draining radiator system was fun to remove radiator on left hand side to be replaced with vertical towel radiator . 6 layers of 1960/70 wallpaper found behind radiator
